Roger Wolff, Ph.D., is a Research Associate Professor in the Division of Clinical Epidemiology, Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine.  His research interests focus on the application of genetic and genomic approaches to better understand disease and improve human health.  His current work focuses on the role in which energy homeostasis impacts predisposition to both breast and colorectal cancers. Dr. Wolff received a Bachelors degree from the University of California San Diego in Microbiology, and a Ph.D. in Human Genetics from the University of Utah.  He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California San Francisco in the Department of Psychiatry prior to holding a number of senior research positions in the Biotechnology industry.  In 1997, Dr. Wolff received the Marcel Simon Award from the International Association for the Study of Disorders of Metabolism for his group’s identification of the gene that is responsible for Hereditary Hemochromatosis.  Dr. Wolff returned to the University of Utah in 2003.
