Brian Sauer’s research interests include pharmacoepidemiology, medical informatics, and patient safety. Dr. Sauer recently finished a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Medical Informatics at the Salt Lake City Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center and is now employed in the Division of Epidemiology as an assistant professor. Dr. Sauer’s PhD dissertation research focused on computerized indicators for preventable drug-related emergency department and hospital admissions.
Research Interests
Dr. Sauer's research utilizes large databases for adverse drug event surveillance and quality improvement. He recently received funding for a 5-years Veteran's Affairs Career Development Award to evaluate the effects of drug therapy monitoring strategies and develop methods to define optimal intervals of laboratory monitoring during drug therapy.
